OUR MISSION

W.E. Care for Kids is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of children in Windsor and Essex County by inspiring community giving.

W.E. Care for Kids is the local leader in fundraising for children’s health and wellness, driven by volunteers and supported by the community.

W.E. Care for Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for local paediatric programs at Windsor Regional Hospital, Met and Ouellette Campuses, Erie Shores HealthCare, John McGivney Children’s Centre, Windsor Essex Therapeutic Riding Association, as well as the W.E. Care for Kids House.

W.E. Care for Kids raises funds to support local paediatric programs through Foundation run events and initiatives, third-party events, as well as personal and corporate donations and sponsorships.

OUR HISTORY

The Windsor Essex Care for Kids Foundation began as a grassroots fundraising campaign in 1997, started by Dr. Joe Galiwango, Bill Micelli and Alan Defoe. The W.E. Care for Kids Campaign was intended to run for one full year to support the purchase of much needed paediatric equipment for local hospitals. The Founders quickly realized that there was a greater need for paediatric funding in the Windsor Essex Community and made the decision to the run the W.E. Care for Kids Campaign annually.

On April 8th 2005, the Windsor Essex Care for Kids Foundation was granted charitable status by the Canada Revenue Agency – changing W.E. Care for Kids from an annual fundraising Campaign to a recognized Foundation. Since its humble beginnings in 1997, W.E. Care for Kids is now recognized as a leader in paediatric fundraising in Windsor Essex County and has raised $6.5 million in support of local paediatric health care programs.
